The PKI is an infrastructure that allows a company/organization to independently use a public key cryptography system based on SSL certificates. It involves the use of signing or authentication certificates issued by Actalis, which, through its own infrastructure, offers a dedicated Certification Authority service.
Installing an SSL server certificate on your website allows you to enable the TLS (Transport Layer Security) protocol, a standard solution for ensuring the security of online transactions. By employing TLS, two crucial security mechanisms are enabled. In the secure channel, all data transferred between the website and the end user is encrypted (the session is entirely encrypted). Through server authentication, the user can verify the authenticity of the website and the identity of the organization managing it.
The S/MIME protocol, supported by the most popular email applications, allows you to send signed and/or encrypted messages, thus ensuring the security of email in two fundamental aspects: confidentiality and authenticity/integrity. Actalis offers S/MIME certificates recognized on the most widespread platforms and compatible with all email applications that comply with the S/MIME standard. In the corporate version, the S/MIME certificates can contain, in addition to the personal data of the holder, also the qualification of the organization.
Digital identity is an element of protection and distinction, especially concerning what is produced by the organization. Increasingly, operating systems block the installation of unsigned applications. Through the Code Signing certification process, it is possible to bind a pair of keys to the authenticity of the executable code produced by an IT organization: a private key, used by the developer to sign the code, and a public key, visible to the end user to verify the software's authenticity.

With Actalis CertiManager, it is indeed possible to request certificates and initiate their issuance and management process independently and efficiently. The organization verification procedure is only required once a year for all certificates.
They allow the verification of the real identity of those accessing applications or data through multi-factor (strong) authentication, based on the combined use of multiple individual authentication methods: a first factor consisting of "static" access credentials (username and password), a second factor consisting of dynamic access codes (OTP, SMS), and an optional third biometric factor.
